What Can You Expect as a New Patient?

We want your first visit to be comfortable, informative, and personalized. Our goal is to understand your concerns, answer your questions, and begin creating a treatment plan that's right for you.

During your appointment, you'll:

  • Complete your new patient paperwork.

  • Have your vital signs taken and complete a posture screening.

  • Meet with Dr. Linda Oliver to discuss your symptoms, health history, and goals.

  • Receive a thorough evaluation and personalized treatment recommendations.

  • Begin treatment during the same visit whenever appropriate.

If additional imaging is needed, Dr. Oliver may recommend digital X-rays (available in our office) or refer you to an outside imaging center for X-rays or an MRI.

The consultation and evaluation portion of your first visit typically takes 15–45 minutes, depending on your individual needs.

During your follow-up appointment, Dr. Oliver will review your posture screening and explain your personalized treatment plan in more detail. You'll have time to ask questions before continuing with your recommended care.

Health and Wellness Tips

Standing

Good posture starts with standing tall. Keep your shoulders relaxed, your head aligned over your spine, and avoid slouching. If you'll be standing for long periods, wear supportive shoes and shift your weight occasionally to reduce fatigue.

Working at a Desk

Set up your workspace so your computer screen is at eye level, your feet rest flat on the floor, and your knees are bent at about a 90-degree angle. Take regular breaks to stand, stretch, and move throughout the day to help reduce stiffness and muscle tension.

Sitting

Choose a chair that provides good back support and sit with your feet flat on the floor. Try to avoid crossing your legs for extended periods, and remember to change positions or get up and move regularly.

Safe Lifting

When lifting, bend your knees instead of your back and keep the object close to your body. Avoid twisting while carrying heavy items, and ask for assistance if something feels too heavy to lift safely.

Stay Active

Regular movement is one of the best ways to support your muscles and joints. Whether you're exercising, gardening, or playing with your kids, take a few minutes to warm up beforehand and listen to your body throughout the activity.

Phone & Screen Posture

Avoid holding your phone between your ear and shoulder while talking. If you're on the phone frequently, consider using a headset or speakerphone. When using your phone or tablet, try to hold the screen closer to eye level to reduce strain on your neck.

Rest & Sleep

A supportive mattress and pillow can help keep your neck and spine in a comfortable, neutral position while you sleep. If you enjoy reading or watching TV in bed, be mindful of your posture and avoid staying in awkward positions for long periods.

Remember to Move

Our bodies are designed to move. Whether you're sitting at a desk, driving, or standing for long periods, taking short movement breaks throughout the day can help reduce stiffness, improve circulation, and support your overall well-being.

Healthy Habits for Everyday Life

Good posture, regular movement, proper body mechanics, and a healthy lifestyle all play an important role in maintaining your overall health. If you're experiencing ongoing pain or discomfort, our team is here to help identify the cause and create a personalized treatment plan to support your recovery.
