Cupping
Cupping therapy is offered as part of an acupuncture treatment when recommended by your acupuncturist. Using gentle suction cups placed on the skin, cupping helps increase circulation, relieve muscle tension, and support the body's natural healing process.
Cupping therapy may help:
Relieve muscle tension and tightness
Improve circulation
Reduce soreness after activity
Support recovery from injuries
Improve mobility
Promote relaxation
What to Expect
During treatment, cups are placed on specific areas of the body for several minutes to create gentle suction. Most patients describe the sensation as a feeling of tightness or pressure rather than pain.
After treatment, it's normal to have temporary circular marks where the cups were placed. These marks are not bruises and typically fade within several days to two weeks, depending on the individual.
Is Cupping Right for Me?
Cupping may be recommended as part of your acupuncture treatment based on your symptoms and treatment goals. Your acupuncturist will discuss whether it's appropriate for your condition and answer any questions before beginning treatment.
